The Gargano was once a remote place, but now with cheap air travel it is easy to access. Villa Oleandro is about 2 hours by car from both Pescara and Bari airports and about 4 hours by car from Rome. It's also possible to get here by train. Intercity trains run to the provincial capital Foggia (and some stop at San Severo). A regional service, operated by Ferrovie del Gargano, runs from San Severo to Peschici-Calenella station. Although the line does not reach Peschici - it stops at Calenella Bay, which is less than 2 km from Villa Oleandro. However, we would strongly recommend having a car unless you are avid cyclists or hikers.
Please note that the above information may have changed as Ryanair and Easyjet change their flight timetables and destinations from time to time. For example, Easyjet do not currently (April 2009) have the East Midlands-Rome Ciampino flight, however Ryanair have just introduced this route. Also please be aware that our arrival/departure days are very flexible so that you can take advantage of cheaper weekday flights. In addition, if your flight departure/arrival times are not convenient (e.g. your departure is very early in the morning) then for your comfort we would recommend that you consider spending one less day with ourselves (we only charge you for the number of nights you stay with us) and find some accommodation for 1 night near the airport. If we can be of any assistance with this or any other advice on travel arrangements then please do not hesitate to ask. Car Insurance: The following link Insurance 4 Car Hire may be of interest. The company offers annual excess cover for car hire at very competitive rates. We recommend that you take excess cover against theft and damage in Italy.
