La Casa Lavanda

Your Perfect Holiday Accommodation

Approached through a grand iron gate and stone wall and tree lined sweeping drive, the imposing Villa Oleandro gives a more than promising first impression.  Perched half way up a hillside, in our olive grove among groves, we offer the discerning traveller a restful haven of relaxing tranquillity hard to come by in this modern day world.

Yet the rest of the world is not far.  Vico is a mere 10 minutes drive away.  Here the fresh fruit and vegetable market is a marvel of choice and colour and the indoor fresh fish market a revelation and education.  The excellent local butchers, bakers and mini supermarkets complete the food supply options and then, of course, there are numerous Pizzeria's and Restaurants in which to savour the local cuisine.

San Menaio (10 mins), Rodi and Peschici (15 mins) and Vieste (30 mins) offer a further plethora of choices.

Part of the elegant Villa Oleandro, La Casa Lavanda offers exclusive self-catering accommodation.

Light and airy the apartment  has a large fully-fitted kitchen, charming double bedroom, excellent shower room and a comfortable living room with a double sofa bed.

For out of season visitors there is a wood burning stove to keep you warm and if it gets really cold the central heating will do the rest.

Furnished and equipped to a very high standard, it is very comfortable for 2 but can sleep upto 4.

Villa Oleandro is fronted by three large terraces, offering a choice of places to relax in the sun or in the shade.

The middle and pool terraces offer further sunbathing options, and if these are not enough you might like to choose the large roof terrace on which to relax with a good book.

The pergolas on the main terrace now have well-developed vines offering full shade and comfort ideal for reading, sleeping, dining and of course a well deserved drink.

The uninterrupted view to the Adriatic makes it is an ideal spot to relax, cooled by the sea breeze.

In season the table grapes are there for the picking!

The picture windows of the apartment lead on to the guests area on the upper terrace and a large marble topped table with stone bench seat that enjoys sunshine at breakfast, shade at lunchtime and full sun from late afternoon.

The stunning views are framed by the stone pillars surrounding the spacious upper terrace.

Sunbeds and a parasol are provided and close by there is La Casa Lavanda's very own barbecue.

All doors and windows are fitted with fly screens, not only against flies but also against our curious and friendly cats and dogs.

The comfortable living room has beautiful picture-window doors that open onto the upper terrace with its all-day sunshine and fabulous views over the olive filled valley down to the Adriatic Sea at Calenella Bay.

The  TV, DVD, and stereo CD players provide all the away-from-home entertainment you may need.  If not a selection of games (e.g. chess, draughts, back-gammon, dominoes, jigsaws) and a few books are provided.  There is also a small sewing kit for those holiday tailoring emergencies.

Ample storage ensure that you have plenty of space into which to unpack your belongings, with no shortage of cloths hangers in the wardrobe.

The sofa opens into a comfortable double bed with the simplest and lightest of mechanisms.

The modern bright  kitchen is equipped with gas hob, electric oven, extractor fan, refrigerator, mini food processor, toaster, kettle, washing machine, iron, dining table and chairs, as well as a plentiful supply of crockery, cutlery, glassware and even a selection of cookery books.  In fact, everything you might need to create your very own Italian feasts.

The kitchen door opens onto an enclosed secluded stone courtyard which enjoys morning sunshine.

The lovely bedroom, decorated to recall it's former use, is located in the old stable inside the original Villa Oleandro.

An unusual canopy created using an old ladder once used in our very own olive groves crowns the bed.

The beautiful vaulted ceiling, 4 metres high, is fitted with a ceiling fan and a further freestanding fan is also provided for your comfort.

The excellent shower room boasts a wonderfully spacious shower (excellent water pressure), wash basin, bidet and toilet. There is a shaver point and a hairdryer is also provided

Bathroom towels are provided, as are bed linen and tea towels for the kitchen.  Beach towels can be supplied on request.

Home-grown organic chilli peppers - one of our crops which, depending on the season, our guests are welcome to share.

We also have a little herb garden with rosemary, thyme, sage, parsley, mint, chives and tarragon at our guests disposal.

In creating what we believe to be the perfect self-catering apartment we have taken into account our not inconsiderable experience of holiday gites and residences both in France and Italy.

The end result, we hope you will agree, makes for a wonderful carefree, enjoyable holiday in a most beautiful and unspoilt part of the world.

We occupy Villa Oleandro and it is never let out so you will be the only guests but you will not be alone.

For more than 25 years before moving here permanently, we were summer visitors to Vico del Gargano.  Margherita lived in Vico as a child, her father is a native, so she understands the local dialect and, of course, she is fluent in Italian.

We can therefore recommend things for you to do and see, help you to organise a tour, point you to the local markets and, perhaps most importantly of all, suggest where to try out the local cuisine.  With Vico, San Menaio, Rodi and Peschici close by and so many other places to explore not so far away, you will be spoilt for choice.

Sun beds, bed linen, bathroom towels and tea towels for the kitchen are provided; beach towels can be supplied too, if required.  You can borrow any extra kitchen equipment you might need (e.g. pasta rolling machine, food processor) from our own kitchen and we also have a library of books, CDs  and DVDs for you to borrow from if in need - please ask.

We provide our guests with a food & drink hamper so there will be no need to buy incidental cooking items such as olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and a few other items to help get your stay with us off to a good start.

If there is any other information we can provide then please do not hesitate to ask.

We can be flexible with bookings and are happy to accept bookings that are not Saturday to Saturday (after all the most convenient Ryanair flights are mid-week).  So please do enquire about availability or view bookings on-line.
